  • ENGIE supports 'Build Yourself' employment programme

    supporting image

ENGIE donates materials to support training programme for young people in Kent.

With a focus on supporting people into employment, ENGIE's Social Value Manager, Patrick Warren, has partnered with Optivo and charity, Fresh Visions, to support their 'Build Yourself' programme.

In November, Patrick supported the programme by donating a large number of decorating materials and personal protective equipment.

The six week course is working with eight young people who not in education, employment or training (NEET), giving them the opportunity to learn trade skills and gain hands on experience whilst transforming a community venue, alongside health and safety training, getting their CSCS card, a free toolkit, and a job reference.

This first project in Swale is redecorating a youth space and games room for a local community group. The youth space, situated in Iwade, is used to offer young people youth activities and cookery sessions.

The materials supplied by ENGIE will enable them to carry out practical training safely and included rollers, roller sleeves, paint brushes, scrappers, high-viz vests, overalls and eye protection etc.

"Thanks to ENGIE and their support with our first Build Yourself in Swale. ENGIE's donation of decorating tools and materials has helped us equip our participants to renovate The Nook youth space in Iwade. Later on in the course ENGIE are providing a tutor for a health and safety level one course, enabling participants to go forward for their CSCS card test, which is an important step in helping them secure employment in the construction industry." Zara Hamid, Health & Wellbeing Officer, Social Impact - Fresh Visions
