  • Benham Lodge - Garden Make Over

    supporting image

Thanks to ENGIE and help from its supply chain, the garden at Benham Lodge in Gravesend has been brought back to life including renewed furniture, new plants and even a hotel for bugs.

In June 2018, 15 volunteers from ENGIE helped rejuvenate an old and under-utilised garden area at Benham Lodge into a new bright and welcoming space for residents of the care home.

Spending an entire day removing an old planter and weeds, building a brand new planter and pagoda as well as repairing and repainting a garden table, seating and swing, the team completely transformed the space to the delight of the residents. As their way of thanking the team for their efforts, the residents will be hosting a party in August to officially re-open the new garden.

"I would like to say a big thank you to ENGIE and everyone that planned and helped bring the garden back to life at Benham Lodge. All the service users are so happy and have been sitting there throughout the day." Kay Samari, Registered Manager at Benham Lodge

Stockwell Gardens Estate - Community Garden Launch

Our most recent ENGIE volunteering day involved supporting our partners Hyde Housing, and the Lambeth GP Food Coop with the donation of top soil and filling of planter beds to this community garden, located at the Stockwell Gardens Estate.

We paid a following visit to the Stockwell Gardens Estate to support the launch of what has been achieved here. This well developed community garden for local residents will bring new life to the community, allowing residents to grow their own, fresh produce. 🌱🌾👐

    Easter Hamper Raffle

We've been spreading the Easter cheer with our Hyde Housing customers the past week with seasonal raffles. The lucky winner this time was Sealand Drive resident, Islina Neves, who picked up our luxury Easter Hamper.

Pictured with Islina is Community Impact Officer, Richard Sanz, and Site Manager, Andy Flood, who gave Miss Neves the good news!

Big congratulations from everyone at ENGIE.

ENGIE recently provided this Health and Safety training course for local residents, which was hosted and led by Trainer, Tony Bates, covering Level 1 Health and Safety in a construction environment.

This is an example of the continuous work we do at ENGIE to provide life skills for those who strive for self development. 💪

For more information on future training courses and other events held for residents, please remember to check 'What's on?'.

  • Works Update

Dear residents, we hope you’ve had a great start to the New Year.

With the partnership between ENGIE and the Hyde Group continuing well, we’re happy to provide this update in regards to the work we’ve been doing, not forgetting some of the great Social Value work that’s being delivered by our Community Impact team.

A lot of things are going on beyond the planned works which we feel is important to share with residents, showing how active we are within the community. Some of the highlighted factors include:

    • Two administration apprentices employed in November 2017

    • Christmas Hamper Raffles delivered in December 2017

    • Further repairs completed at Sealand Drive along with the donation of a new garden bench (created using recycled pallets and constructed by our on-site storeman)

    • BuildFORCE work placement at Sealand Drive starting Monday 8th January 2018 for six weeks

    • In support of the Beckett House community garden, ENGIE will be providing Top-Soil, sand, a shed, a green house, trellis and signage, as well as substantial labour to help level some areas, making them more accessible for disabled residents.
