Leaving a legacy and investing in Marsh Farm

Building Communities, Transforming Lives is ENGIE’s vision, and for Marsh Farm we have a comprehensive community investment plan which has been developed with the local residents in mind

We have been working with the Marsh Farm steering group to identify how we can help over the next few years to have a positive impact in the community and leave a rewarding legacy, including:

  • Recruiting apprentices, offering work placements and providing careers advice to local schools
  • Supporting young people to develop skills, confidence and enterprise
  • Delivering a number of local initiatives that link into the Marsh Farm priorities and the wider ward

Local residents take part in the ENGIE Kickstart programme

In further support for growing local labour in the area, ENGIE held a Kickstart training programme for local residents in Marsh Farm and the wider Luton area.

The award-winning programme is a mixture of a get back into work initiative, a pre-employment programme and pre-apprenticeship training. It helps encourage people into the construction industry whilst supporting and recognising talented individuals who can offer skills to the industry.

Mayor of Luton Dave Taylor said: “This is a brilliant initiative and a real stepping stone for local people looking to secure work in the construction or related industries. People from Luton show great commitment to get into work and on behalf of the Council and ENGIE, I wish them all the best in their endeavours.”

Dan Germann, Regional Managing Director for ENGIE concludes: "Our work is not just about building new homes but creating and sustaining the local community in Luton. We achieve this by working with local contractors and people, ensuring the investment in these areas benefit those living there and the communities they serve."
